Behavioral Health Navigator Program
If you need help accessing or navigating the Pennsylvania behavioral health services and supports system for yourself, your child, a family member, or someone else you know, please contact our Behavioral Health Navigators.
Since 2013—with funding from the Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS)—the Mental Health Association in Pennsylvania (MHAPA) has supported two part-time Behavioral Health Navigators.
A Navigator will:
- Help you identify and connect to resources for mental health and/or substance abuse services and supports.
- Answer your questions about the publicly funded behavioral health system (via Medicaid and/or Medicare).
- Assist you in navigating other service systems.
- Follow up as needed and give help with calls and connections.
In non-pandemic times, MHAPA’s Behavioral Health Navigators also represent the organization at school and community health fairs and conferences throughout the state.
PLEASE NOTE: Navigator help is not designed for emergency situations. If there is a crisis/emergency, use 911 or contact your local crisis/emergency services. Find your local emergency services by visiting the Pennsylvania Network of Care website. Select your county, and when you reach your county’s screen, you can click on Emergency Services, which appears on the left-hand side of the screen.
Contact: When you contact the Navigators, you can remain anonymous or share your name. Please be sure to leave contact information so they can respond to you. It is helpful to have both a phone number (with area code) and email address, if you have them.
