George Rohde loves a challenge, whether it’s working on cars, woodworking, or generally fixing things. And George knows about challenges, having faced and overcome numerous negative consequences related to untreated mental illness and alcoholism.
George is now happier than he’s been in a long time, thanks to the help and support he’s received in recovery from addiction and mental illness. One therapist in particular believed in George even before he did, and helped him set goals, which included getting involved in the POWER Program at Montgomery County Community College. In addition to the positive educational experience at POWER, George met Anita Bono. They have been together ever since and are planning a wedding.
After graduating from the POWER program, George was offered the opportunity to be the example and mentor new students in the program. His role in this position and his ongoing studies have taught him empathy and given him confidence in himself.
George is the evidence of how belief inspires and how an example can lead.
