Kara Newhouse

Kara Newhouse is a reporter by day (and often nights) at the Perry County Times. She also is a photographer who loves teaching digital media and critical thinking skills to children and teenagers. She drew inspiration for the Faces of Mental Health Recovery project from the Inside Out Project, a global public art project involving wheat paste portraits.

Kara’s work at home and abroad has brought her into direct contact with political oppression, violence and poverty, but she has never lost her faith in people’s abilities to change their lives and the world around them. She refuses to look away from or forget stark realities of people’s live and is dedicated to taking action for a society where everyone’s needs are met. Kara is the curator of the Faces of Mental Health Recovery Public Art Project.

Kara is the evidence of how giving heals the soul.
